MOVING FORWARD

Steps on what to do with your new website and how to build a great online presence.

1: Spread The Word!

When your website goes live, the most important thing to do initially is drive traffic to it. This will help google index it faster and start improving your SEO rankings immediately.

Here are some ways you can get the word out:

• Email – if you have an email list, be sure to let folks know that the new site has launched. If you have any blogs you think could especially benefit your audience, you can include links and share value with them.

• Social Media – use your network of Facebook friends, family or co-workers to get the word out. If you’ve got a Facebook page for your private practice, post a link to the new site there. Share the link with your colleagues on LinkedIn. Active on any other networks?… share away!

• Talk It Up! – word of mouth is still the most powerful referral. If you’re as excited as I am when your site launches, tell those around you! You may even want to ask current clients what they think of your new website. That’s valuable feedback from your target audience that may come in handy when considering changes and additions to the site moving forward.

2: Add New Content

Google loves to recommend websites that are actively adding new content. It shows that your website is of value to users.
If your website is not being managed, updated or taken care of – it can impact your SEO ranking dramatically. Here’s some options on how to build your website content:

Blogging:

Did you know that websites with a blog tend to have 434% more pages indexed by Google than websites without? (source)
Each time you add a blog to your website, you’re adding another page for search engines to crawl through.

Google is more likely to show your website in search results if it knows that it’s been updated more frequently than a website that hasn’t been updated in months.

Blogging makes your site look fresh and increases the amount of keywords found on your website… giving google more reasons to suggest your content in search results.

New Pages:

Just like adding blog posts, creating new pages increases the amount of content for Google to crawl through.
One of the best things you can do for SEO (search engine optimization) is to create what we call “specialty pages.”

Having a specific page devoted to a topic (or keyword… see where I’m going here?) is the best way to optimize for search engines.

If someone is searching for help with “grief counseling in Atlanta”, and you’ve got an entire content-rich page devoted to the topic, Google is going to like that.

Take a look at the services you offer and the topics you love to help your clients with. Go ahead and create landing pages or based on those topics.

By creating these specialty pages you are providing more detailed information to potential clients, assuring them that your therapy services can provide the change their looking for.
